I'm not sure where the term doorgame originates but BBS games have
been called "doors" since before I came on the scene.
I guess when you select an option on a BBS menu it is similar to
going through a door.

RBBS-PC was one of, if not the first, to use the term "door". It's like
opening a door to another set of programs that the BBS can run. The
author of PCBoard was instrumental on pushing DOOR.SYS.
