It's been cold here in California over the past two weeks, looking
    forward to sunnier, warmer days.

Not that much snow in the mountains, though. Going to be a dry summer.

I stopped counting when we broke two thousand in winch fee's.

I have had all the winter I can take, we haven't had any in what? 3 years?

I've never understood people who don't shovel. It sucks yes, but you
need to do at least a path to the door and a path to get your car out.

I don't see as many Tesla's as I did before the snow started. Now that

He does NONE of that. Our driveway is shared...

The other day I learned a new word I've seriously never heard before... "windrow". That is the word that describes the mess at the end of the driveway that Mr. Plow leaves behind from the street.

I shoveled my windrow mess for me to bring my car in, but not his.

so I go to work and come home, I see tire tracks from the end of my side of the driveway... to his garage. He doesn't bother to shovel AT ALL.

Reminds me of the neighbor of mine who would go banging on doors if
someone parked in front of her house. Including my house, when my mother
was taking care of my sick daughter.

I came home on a holiday to find her parked in my driveway. She had a
party and wanted to reserve her streetside parking for guests. Since I
couldn't park in my driveway or garage, I blocked her in.

Waited for a knock that didn't come, apologizing and attempting to
explain herself. Instead, she got up early and drove over her own
flowerbed and a curb to get out.

Oh FFS. Time for a rumble strip on your side of the driveway? LOL When
I had my townhouse the neighbour I shared the driveway with was a nice
older guy, so I would shovel his side at the same time, once he moved and
a new person moved in who had teenagers at home, I just did my own side.

They complained to me that I should have done their side too and it wasn't right.

Bahaha... since my recent move to "suburbia" I swear theres some American Beauty stuff going on.

Just weird quirks of neighbours. Not a big fan of dog owners. Very nice houses on the street with large snowbanks... and lovely patches of piss on them.

Seems everyone has this obsession with parking their rediculous SUV's backing into their driveways. Every one of them. One house across the street has flashing lights from their bedroom at night. Not a TV from what I can tell.

When I moved to the coast, I moved into a nice community. We all know
each other by running into each other walking dogs. We had an elderly
man who'd had a stroke living alone on our street, and we all took turns bringing in mail, moving garbage cans out, and keeping an eye on him. It
was nice to know people around me are looking out for each other - it's
the first time I've seen that since moving out of my parent's house way
    back when.

He passed away, donated a ton of money to the local JC that he
taught at, and it turned out that a former student bought his house.
    Tight community.

I have a new OM starting this week, so once she's all settled in
Is there a good chance your employer overlords will approve that? That would be very cool if you could work remotely.

I don't see why they wouldn't... Everything is tracked on the laptop, and
if I don't do my job no one get's paid so I'm quite sure they would know.

The worst part of my job is driving HOME every day. Sure it's just Ajax
to Oshawa, the drive to work is 15 mins. Coming home is an hour or more,
and I've tried every road there is from west to east. :)

Two customers on my particular contract require onsite visits on a
regular basis. If it wasn't for them I would probably never leave the house.

It's just better that way. I hate when people are at my desk and they
tend to come in long lines and all of it can be answered easier with a
    email or a text message.

Pats his new Mikrotik on the head.

I miss the location of one of my old jobs. There was a "Goodwill
Outlet" nearby, I don't quite know the logistics. It might have been
items that didn't sell, or items that went there first, I wasn't sure.
Most likely the former, since I saw things that looked too good for the
    usual thrift shop fare.

I picked up a nice Netgear R6400 router and two Linksys WRT1900ACS
routers there, flashed them with OpenWRT or DD-WRT and used them
various places - in fact, I'm still using one of the WRT1900ACSes as an
    access point.

The twist? The outlet sold items by weight. All 3 routers were
    something like $12.

I'd love to go back, but it's around 30 miles away, and those places
are best when you can check in occasionally since you don't know what's
going to be there or how long it'll last.

I've started working 1 day a week in the head office in a leadership role, and last week I decided to go to a branch office. At the end of the day, I
got an email from someone who was waiting for me to be in the office to
    help resolve her smartphone issue.

I suggested she try someone else's charger and cable first, then let me
    know if that worked.

    It did.

It was a shame that she self-triaged and assumed that the problem
required a face-to-face visit, she was without her phone for a week.

I've worked with bosses who manage remote teams well, and some that do
so poorly. I think it all has to do with organization, the better
organized managers can schedule time around comms and lessen the
importance of running into their direct reports as a means of

I've been trying to find "Quincy, M.E." for years, including the three made-for-TV movies which were a prequel (sp?) to the actual show.

I have some oddball shows but my favorite is the one-season wonder called "Manimal". I used to have "Automan" but I lost it in a hard drive failure.

"Manimal" and "Automan" were by Glen A. Larson who came up with Knight Rider and Battlestar Galactica.

I've been looking for "Kojack" and "The Streets of San Francisco" lately but have been coming up dry.

Too many car on Taunton. Plus the time it takes to get to Taunton. :)
I live downtown and work on highway 2 in Ajax. It's not a long drive in
    the morning, just coming home.

I tried leaving the office an hour later at 5pm and that does help with
some of the traffic, I've also tried leaving early. If I can get out by
3:30pm at the latest (I mean I'm in my car and sitting at the driveway
to turn onto Harwood by 3:30) that also cuts down a lot of traffic.

I think the issue is no kids walk to to school anymore so there are all

Same here, but when I turned 16 I did get a beater car and drove to

The shrewdest kids took Auto Shop as an elective class and got to fix
